This Tsugaru shamisen features a three-piece Mitsuori neck, allowing the instrument to be separated into three sections for easier transportation while preserving the playing feel and sound of a traditional one-piece shamisen.
To help protect the instrument during assembly, disassembly, and transport, each neck joint is fitted with a custom-made wooden joint protector. These protective pieces help reduce wear on the joints and provide additional stability when the instrument is taken apart for travel.
Every shamisen also comes with a custom-made three-piece black dust cover, designed to protect each individual section when the instrument is disassembled. Together with the padded soft case, it provides additional protection for storage and transport.
Combined with Higashi Sawari, it produces the characteristic resonance and rich overtones that define the expressive sound of the Tsugaru shamisen.
Features
Asian Karin (Burma Padauk)
The neck and body are crafted from Asian Karin (Burma Padauk), a hardwood that has long been used in Japanese shamisen making.
Asian Karin is valued for its excellent strength and beautiful grain. Compared with the African Padauk commonly used in many modern entry-level instruments, Asian Karin has traditionally been regarded as a higher-grade material and is appreciated for its warm, balanced tonal character and refined appearance.
Premium Plant-Based Synthetic Skin
The shamisen is fitted with a premium plant-based synthetic skin reinforced with high-strength fibers.
Designed to provide reliable performance and durability, it offers a practical alternative to natural skin while requiring less maintenance. It is particularly well suited to changing climates and regular everyday playing.
Three-piece Mitsuori Neck
The Mitsuori construction makes the shamisen easier to transport without compromising its traditional playing characteristics.
For musicians who travel regularly, the instrument can be separated into three sections for convenient storage and transportation.
Individual sections can also be shipped separately when maintenance or repairs are required.
