About the Course
A small group class (2～3 students), ideal for beginners.
In this course, students will learn the fundamental elements of Tsugaru Shamisen playing, including proper posture, how to hold the instrument and the bachi (pick), basic instrument setup, and introductory sheet music reading.
Through learning in a group setting, students can build a solid foundation while sharing the joy of music together.

Additional Information
Shamisen instruments and sheet music will be provided for use during the lessons.
You are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before your lesson for individual practice and warm-up.
Please note that the final class schedule may be adjusted depending on the number of participants and registrations.
Beginner-friendly Karin (rosewood) shamisen are available for rental or purchase if you would like to continue practising at home. Rental fees are €110–120/month. If you are interested, please indicate your preference in the registration form below.
As you progress, you may also have opportunities to perform together with us at Japanese cultural events in Finland.

Beyond the Classroom
Students enrolled in the course are also welcome to join our free group practice sessions, where they can play together with other shamisen students and prepare for our year-end group performance on 12 December 2026.
Participation in the group sessions and performance is optional and included at no additional cost.
Cancellation, Refund & Make-Up Policy
As this is a fixed 8-week small-group course with only two students per group, the following cancellation and refund policy applies:
Cancellation Before the Course Begins
14 days or more before the course begins: Full refund
7–13 days before the course begins: €50 cancellation fee
Less than 7 days before the course begins: €100 cancellation fee
The applicable cancellation fee will be deducted from the amount refunded.
Withdrawal after the course has started
If a student needs to withdraw after the course has started, 50% of the value of the remaining unused lessons will be refunded.
Lessons that have already taken place are non-refundable.
Missed Lessons & Make-Up
If a student is unable to attend a scheduled group lesson, one 30-minute private make-up lesson may be arranged during the 8-week course.
Each student is entitled to a maximum of one make-up lesson per course.
Please notify us at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson to be eligible for the make-up lesson.
Any additional missed lessons cannot be rescheduled, replaced, or refunded.
Cancellation by Us
If we need to cancel a lesson, a replacement lesson will be arranged.
If a replacement lesson cannot be provided, the corresponding lesson fee will be refunded.
In exceptional circumstances, please contact us and we will review the situation individually.
These terms do not limit any rights provided under mandatory Finnish consumer protection legislation.
Your Instructor
Zuiko
Zuiko is a Tsugaru Shamisen performer from Taiwan with over ten years of experience in performing and teaching.
Currently based in Finland and studying at the Sibelius Academy ’s Global Music program, he is passionate about sharing the shamisen through lessons, concerts, and community projects, bringing this unique Japanese instrument to new audiences.
